About the university

Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD; Jawi: is a national research university located in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei. It was established in 1985 and has since become the largest university in the country in terms of student enrollment and curriculum offered.

UBD is ranked 86th in Asia by the 2020 QS Asia University Rankings^[1] , and 254th in the world by the 2021 QS World University Rankings.

Brunei had only four large universities that offer undergraduate and graduate studies; two of them are religious universities. Local applicants could only apply through the online service known as HECAS (Higher Education Centralised Admission System) where representatives of Ministry of Education and local universities pick only qualified students that meet the requirements of points of specific exams such as General Cambridge Education A-Level Examinations.

Eligibility

Before applying for any scholarship, it is important for the candidates to first know if they are eligible for such scholarship to avoid wasting their time.

Applicants must be, between the ages of 18-25 for Undergraduate and Diploma programs.
Must not exceed the age of 35 for Postgraduate Master’s Degree programs on the 31^st of July 2022.
Applications are open to citizens of, but not limited to, ASEAN, Commonwealth, and OIC Member Countries.

Financial Coverage

The Government of Brunei Darussalam Scholarship is a Fully Funded Scholarship for International Students to Study in Brunei. All the Expenses will be covered.

Exemption from Paying Tuition Fees Including Acceptance, Examination, Registration & Orientation Fees.
An Economy Class Round Air Ticket to/from Brunei Darussalam
A Monthly personal Allowance of BND$500.00
A Monthly personal Allowance of BND$150.00
An Annual Book Allowance of BND$600.00
Accommodation at the Residential College of the University/ Polytechnic
Baggage Allowance for shipment of the scholarship recipient’s personal effects to his country of origin/country of domicile upon completion of the program, at a maximum amount of:

BND$250.00 to a country within the ASEAN region
BND$500.00 to a country outside the ASEAN region

Comprehensive Insurance Cover for the whole duration of the Scholarship.

Scholarship Duration:

Diploma: 3 Years
Undergraduate Degree: 8 Semester (4 Year Full Time)
Master Degree: 12 Months, 24 Months
