EDO First Class Graduates Granted Automatic Employment

Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has made a breath taking decision to offer automatic employment for top graduates who came out with first class of Edo origin from all Nigerian universities into the state’s civil and public service. This initiative is geared towards providing the Edo State Civil and Public Service with premium talent with the intention to achieve the governor’s vision of making Edo the perfect place to stay and work by 2050.

Automatic Employment for First Class Graduates

The Edo State Head of Service, Anthony Okungbowa Esq., passed the governor’s acceptance and commend this forward-thinking gesture. He reported it as a leading light and a worthy move that goes in line with the long-term vision for the state. The initiative was extended first to the Best Graduating Students of the Edo State University, Uzairue throughout its third Convocation Ceremony. Later, it was enlarged to incorporate graduates from the University of Benin and Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma.

15 First Class Graduates and Best Graduating Students

Okungbowa mentioned the names of 15 First Class graduates and the Best Graduating Students from the aforementioned universities have already been forwarded to the Civil Service Commission for more action. He encouraged Vice Chancellors of Nigerian universities to submit the names and particulars of First Class students who’re Edo indigenes to the Edo State Government for a similar purpose.

It’s nothing that Edo State is known as the highest-paying state government among Nigerian States. Governor Obaseki has raised the minimal wage in the state to N40,000, showing his dedication to investing in human resources. Moreover, the state has applied an e-governance system that has automated work processes and redesigned the work environment, facilitating a smart and ICT-driven work tradition.
