Kano-COEASU Set To Go On An Indefinite Strike Over Staff Welfare

The Federal College of Education (Technology), Bichi, chapter of the Faculties of Training Academic Staff Union (COEASU), has introduced plans to go on an indefinite strike action cause of the lack of the school administration to handle its demands centred on the discharge of TETFund authorised funds, disorder and lack of hygiene, payment of allowances, Lack of web providers, amongst others.

The lecturers of COEASU who introduced the kick of the strike on Wednesday, April 12, stated that in as much as the school is a tertiary institution, is more of a dignified secondary school because of the increased price of insecurity,  lawlessness, and lack of apparatus and consumables.

The union president, Dr. Hussaini Yahaya Peni of COEASU stated that it was so unfortunate that the union had no choice than to go on strike as a result of administration’s incapability to execute the resolutions of 28th August 2022 and 10th January 2023 that predicated on problems with high quality academic requirements and different problems affecting workers welfare.

Based on Peni, the union put on hold earlier plans to go on the strike on 23rd August 2022, they made a resolution with the school administration on 28th August 2022 and 10th January 2023, about high quality academic requirements and different problems affecting workers welfare. He stated the administration’s incapability to execute the decision is necessitating the economic motion.
